This place is an institution in Redondo Beach. Old guys meeting for their weekly breakfast, friends, single people, workers, police. It was a real scene people watching place and fun. Everyone was very chatty on the waiting bench. Friendly and attentive staff. I watched people chowing down their waffles slathered in syrup, pancakes, omelette, fries, all with great gusto as I awaited my friend. We just had different variations of tuna sandwiches but enjoyed them. I substituted the small fruit bowl for the fries (but they charged me). I wish they charged less for the coffee too. Nevertheless, I would go back again for breakfast/lunch and to enjoy the scene. But I might just stick with the fries next time.
Exactly what you'd expect from a place called "eat at Joes" : indifferent service, strong coffee, tasty food at a relatively good price. Worth the walk from my hotel this morning.

The John Wayne special was a killer in the 1970s. I know to move forward you can't live in the past but what a fantastic time that was.
